Rise of the Runelords 3.75
According to notes found within the Library of Thassilon beneath Jorgenfist:
The Runelords were originally appointed as governors by Emperor Xin to help him rule his flourishing empire. Each Runelord was a master of magic and they amassed such power that they were able to wrest complete control from Xin and had him forever neutralized. It is not clear from the texts if he was slain or imprisoned in another, alien plane.
The Runelords perverted the Seven Virtues of Rule to the Seven Sins and brought Rune Magic to new heights of power while thoroughly corrupting the once great empire. Each Runelord embodied one the Seven Sins and no living being could rival a Runelord’s power within his own domain. However, each Runelord had a weakness and that was the rune magic from the opposing side of the Sihedron Rune.
The Runelords, their area of arcane specialty and the name of their physical domains were:
Alaznist, Runelord of Wrath, Mistress of Bakrakhan.
Belimarius, Runelord of Envy, Queen of Edasseril.
Karzoug, Runelord of Greed, Lord of Shalast.
Krune, Runelord of Sloth and Lord of Haruka.
Sorshen, Runelord of Lust and Lady of Eurythnia.
Xanderghul, Runelord of Pride and Satrap of Cyrusian.
Zutha, Runelord of Gluttony and Master of Gastash.
Each Runelord lived for thousands of years and was thought to have unlocked the secrets of immortality.
